  • Greenville Splash History

The Greenville Splash Masters is a USMS Masters swim club in Greenville, South Carolina. The Greenville Splash Masters swim club was created and founded in 2009 by the vision of Leslie Scott the Director and Head Coach. With over 30 years of experience in the swimming world, Leslie has taken her passion of swimming to another level in 2014 by becoming 1 of only 10 individuals in the country to achieve Level 4 Coaching Certification through the United States Masters Swimming organization. Currently Leslie is an officer of the South Carolina LMSC and holds the Chair of Registrar & Sanctions and Fitness.

In 2012, Leslie was awarded the prestigious Kerry O’Brian award by the United States Masters Swimming.

Below is the USMS description on Leslie Scott’s achievement:

“USMS is proud to honor Leslie Scott with a 2012 Kerry O’Brien coaching award. She has proven that vision, enthusiasm, and persistence are a hard combination to trump. Seeing one discontinued program as an opportunity to create something fresh and new, the now 100+ membership of the club is so grateful that she continued to knock on closed doors, weaved her experience as Aquatics Director, teacher, coach and athlete into a convincing argument that was undeniable as to what might be. She demonstrated the innate ability to fuse passion, energy, and creativity that has some reaching for new fitness goals and others reaching touch pads faster than they ever have done, making the Greenville Splash Masters a true testament to what is possible with a great coach like her”.

With Leslie’s passion and dedication, the Greenville Splash Masters program has become the largest Masters program in the history of the South Carolina Upstate. The Greenville Splash Masters program started with 2 swimmers showing up for the first workout in 2009 and has grown to include members from all over the Upstate and even has swimmers from as far away as Washington State. In 2015 the Greenville Splash has partnered with three amazing swim facilities; Greenville Recreation Westside Aquatic Complex, The Greenville Kroc Center and Spartanburg Middle Tyger YMCA. The Greenville Splash enjoys relationships with facilities and organizations that believe in the mission, goals and community efforts of the team and looks forward to partnering with more facilities in the future.

The majority of the Greenville Splash swimmers swim for the benefits of great camaraderie, health, fitness and friendship. The team is a fun group of swimmers both in and out of the water with several team socials, picnics and outings. Many of the Greenville Splash Masters team members have accomplished national & state records, team titles and several individual and relay All-Americans. Greenville Splash is represented by many strong team members that compete at local, regional and national pool events, local and worldwide open water swims, and many triathlons worldwide.

In 2015 Greenville Splash was proud to host the Upstate Splash Charity Open Water Swim event at Lake Jocassee, SC. The 2015 inaugural event raised enough money to provide swim lessons to over 200 at-risk youth within our communities. We look forward to continued success with the Upstate Splash’s Mission: “Bringing swimmers together to save children’s lives”. The Greenville Splash team is dedicated in supporting the Upstate Splash in saving lives one child at a time by bringing awareness to childhood drowning.
